My Favorite Links and Resources

You will find my favorite links, resources and tools listed on this page. These are all tools that I own and use on daily basis.

Many of the tools are free, but some you will have to pay for. It is very easy to over-spend on tools, especially when you are just starting on website design or Internet Marketing – there is a lot of crap out there. Think carefully what you really need and if the tool, course or website really contains what you need.

Domain Name Tools

  • Nameboy.com: A cool free tool for brainstorming domain name ideas. Great for new ideas, but DO NOT buy your domain names from here!
  • DomainIdeas.com. A free tool for some more possible domain name ideas. Again – DO NOT buy your domains from here!
  • Namecheap.com: Namecheap.com is my best rated domain name registrar. They have great prices, easy user interface and they are reliable. Read the review, and get your domains from Namecheap!
  • GoDaddy.com: GoDaddy is large and reputable domain name registrar and web hosting company. Their user interface is more cluttered than that of NameCheap, and they constantly try to up-sell things to you, but they are certainly a solid choice for domain name registrations.
  • Network Solutions: Network Solutions used to be THE domain registrar in the years past, and they have been losing market share ever since. I am only including Netsol on my favorite links because they are SO big and SO established that if you want ultimate in reliability, they are worth considering. Unfortunately buying them is expensive (and not just a little bit), the user interface confusing and unfriendly. If you like to buy your domains and hosting from a company that will be around as long as you local Tax Office, and about as easy to deal with, go with them.

HTML learning resources

  • w3schools.com: Anything you ever want to know about HTML and much more. Really. And it’s FREE!
  • HTML.net: HTML.net offers FREE HTML and CSS tutorials. You really want to learn about CSS eventually. It is the future.
  • Webmaster Toolkit: Assorted free tools for webmasters. Not for beginners, though.
  • Dynamic Drive: Dynamic Drive has fantastic library of DHTML and CSS code snippets. Most are free, some you have to pay for. Not quite for beginners.
  • Webmaster World: Webmaster World is one of the biggest forums for web masters. Great place to read about many topics

Keyword Research Tools

  • Google keyword tool: Its Keyword Tool, its Google, its FREE!
  • SEOBook: SEO Book is great resource for keyword research. It offers a wide variety of free tools by just signing up. You can pay to get even more functionality, but the free ones will take your far.
  • Traffic Travis: This quirkily named Keyword Research Tool is brought to you by Mark Ling of Affilorama – one of the best Internet Marketing communities around. The program comes in two flavors: free and professional. The free version is AWESOME, and for once, you actually get something useful for paying nothing. If you want the Pro version, you can get it here.
  • Micro Niche Finder: Fantastic keyword analysis software I use all the time. MNF costs less than $100 (for now) but it is worth every penny. If you are looking for a comprehensive keyword search solution, this is it! Get it now!

Online communities and courses

  • Wealthy Affiliate: Wealthy Affiliate University is a pay-for community of Internet Marketers. Wealthy Affiliate does not only concentrate on affiliate marketing, but marketing your website in general. Making you website easy to find is the one single most important goal you have, and to do that you will need to actively market your website. WA has a TON of up to date information on all forms of website marketing, as well as a helpful community behind it. It is well worth the money. WA is the only GENERAL pay-for community I recommend. It has been simply INVALUBLE to me.
  • Affilorama: Affilorama in another awesome community I’m a part of. Affilorama is more focused on affiliate marketing, but has many, many resources that are applicable to general website promotion. You can access a lot of the Affilorama content for free, so even if you don’t purchase any of their packages, it is well worth joining the team. Affilorama is run by Mark Ling – a very reputable Internet Marketer, and the father of Traffic Travis (no pun intended).
  • PotPieGirl.com: PotPieGirl, aka. Jennifer is a member of the Wealthy Affiliate community, and she has her own blog that is a constant source of great information. Jennifer is down-to-earth and speaks in terms anyone can understand. She also has a course on using Squidoo (mostly) for marketing your website. The course is called One Week Marketing. I highly recommend both following Jennifer’s blog, as well as getting One Week Marketing course.
  • Warriorforum.com is THE forum for all things online and website marketing. It is free to join, at least for now. You can spend ages here reading about, well, everything website and affiliate marketing.
